Extended School Year (ESY) services are offered for students who demonstrate severe or substantial regression in any area(s) addressed in their IEP goals and who also demonstrates a limited capacity to recoup skills in the area(s) within a reasonable time. Other critical factors that are considered may include nature and severity of disability, self sufficiency to achieve independence, child’s rate of progress, availability of resources, support in the home, and ability to interact with other children.
