Job Description
As the adapted PE teacher I have the opportunity to see students K-21 across the RSD. I observe, assess and teach in order to help students with their gross motor, locomotor and overall cardiovascular fitness and knowledge. I am also involved in the ILS swim program every Friday. I assess students and recommend the safest and most valuable physical education placement to meet their individual needs. I support teachers by working with them to modify physical education curriculum to meet their students needs as well as teach an adapted PE class at Redmond high school.
Adapted PE/Mentors- Class at RHS
Adapted PE is a class that is offered to individuals with special needs as well as regular education students. Regular education students are one on one mentors to students with special needs. The class is an amazing experience for both groups of students giving them the opportunity to learn about the needs of others. The class is offered 4th period all three trimesters. The class focuses around fitness related activities that students can engage in beyond high school.
