Dear First Grade Family,
This week we will finish The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark, concluding our owl storyline. In November students will begin keeping journals, using the names of real passengers who traveled aboard the Mayflower, as they journey to the New World.
Homework Please make sure that your child’s homework folders get back to school by Monday morning. It would be great if each student had an extra folder at school to use when needed.
Students should complete and return the writing worksheet and the Everyday Math pages. Practice reading, writing, and spelling the “op” family words - there will be a test on these words on Friday.
Cut out and practice reading the enclosed flash card words. Please keep reviewing the flash cards sent home previously.
Important Reminder It is getting colder outside and we rarely have indoor recess. Please make sure that your child wears a coat and has appropriate footwear for the weather.
Have a great week!

Dear First Grade Family,
Please call the school office, at 923-4884, if you have not yet scheduled a conference. There are still openings available.
I’m looking forward to meeting with my students and their families. There is no school this Thursday and Friday, October 16th and 17th, because of conferences.
Homework Please continue to read daily and study the “og” family words for the spelling test this Wednesday. There is no other homework this week.
Please encourage your child to be responsible about turning in a homework folder each week.
Have a nice week!

Dear First Grade Family,
There will be no school this Thursday and Friday, October 9th and 10th. On Thursday, teachers will be working in their classrooms to prepare for the upcoming conferences, and Friday is Statewide Inservice Day.
I’m looking forward to meeting with my students and their families during conferences the following week. Please call the school office, at 923-4884, if you have not yet scheduled a conference.
Homework Please make sure that your child’s homework folders get back to school. There are usually a lot of papers going home on Mondays and they are more likely to get to you when they are tucked in a folder.
Students should complete and return the writing worksheet and the Home Links math pages. Practice the new spelling words - there will be a test on five of the “ap” family words this Wednesday.
Fall Pictures Student pictures will be taken tomorrow - Tuesday, October 7th.
Have a great week!
