Homework: All About Me Bag
Choose five items that describe who you are and bring them to school in a brown paper grocery bag. The items must all fit in the bag. Be prepared to tell the class why you chose each item.
Examples to get you thinking: A family photograph – tell the class about your family in 2-3 sentences; a baseball card- explaining why the represented team is the best; a miniature soccer ball to stand for your love of soccer; a well-loved book about a favorite subject; something you collect; a piece of your artwork; an award; a special toy or stuffed animal; something that represents a favorite pet or place, etc.
Please put your name on the bag and decorate it. The bag will be shared during the week of September 8th – 12th. Have fun, be creative, and let us know who you are!!!

Welcome to first grade! Hopefully you’ve had a wonderful summer and are getting excited about beginning the new school year. The classroom is almost ready and I can’t wait to meet you!
Please come and get acquainted at our Open House on Friday, August 29th between 2:00 pm and 3:30 pm. Our classroom is room #11. You may bring your school supplies with you.
The first day of school is Tuesday, September 2nd, beginning at 9:00 am. School is dismissed at 3:30 pm. You may come as early as 8:40, but there is no adult supervision before that time. We will have regular school days on Tuesday, September 2nd and Wednesday, September 3rd, but there will be no school for first graders on Thursday, September 4th and Friday, September 5th. Thursday and Friday have been set aside for individual first grade assessments. A parent should call the John Tuck office at 923-4884 to schedule a half-hour assessment appointment for you. Both you and a parent should come to the assessment appointment.
Parents: Please fill out the Child Information Questionnaire and return it to me. This information will help me to better serve your child.
In addition to the items on the First Grade Supply List, it would be helpful if you are able to contribute a bottle of hand sanitizer, 35 mm film, and/or baby wipes.
Students will begin sharing their All About Me Bags on Monday, September 8th. This assignment is explained on the enclosed yellow paper.
I am excited to become acquainted with my students and their families. I believe we will have a wonderful time working and learning together this year.
Enjoy the rest of your summer!
