School starts promptly at 9:00. Please make sure that your child is here at the start of the school day. The school day ends each day at 3:35. On Wednesday, the school day ends at 2:35.
Please call the school 382-2853 on the day of the absence if you have not already informed the classroom teacher of the absence. If your child is too ill to participate in a full school day, including outside recess, please keep him/her at home. Many assignments are hands-on and cannot be made up, so it is best to be at school consistently for optimal learning. Please click absences and illnesses to read more.
If your child has different plans after school (going home with a friend, being picked up by a neighbor, etc.) please send a note to the office so that we will know where and with whom to send your child.
A newsletter will be sent home at least once a month. It will provide you with an update of the work accomplished in our class as well as inform you of upcoming events and news.
We have discussed what each of these rules look like in all academic and social. 1. Be safe. 2. Be respectful. 3. Be responsible.
Throughout the year I work at creating an environment in our class that builds confidence, character, and success. I have very high expectations for my students in the area of behavior. Through encouragement, structure, and modeling, the students will rise to the expectations set before them.
This system will be used in our classroom to reinforce desired behavior and discourage undesired behavior. Students will be paid (with classroom currency) for completing class and homework assignments, following rules, working cooperatively, and maintaining a classroom job. They will keep track of their money on an accounting sheet, deposit their earnings into the classroom bank, and withdraw money for certain occasions. Click on Economy System to learn about Marketplace!
Click on Curriculum for a brief synopsis of our programs and curriculum for 5th grade.
Click Homework to read more about it.
Students are encouraged to bring a healthy snack each day (fruit, crackers, veggies, yogurt, etc.). This helps keep students energy up during the day.
We will of course acknowledge your child’s birthday on his/her special day. If you choose to bring in treats for your child’s birthday, we will enjoy them in the afternoon. Please send birthday treats that are purchased from a store, easy to serve and eat. Napkins are appreciated as well. If drinks are sent, please have drinks individually packaged such as juice boxes.
Parent involvement is an important factor of student success. There are many ways you can help support your child’s learning and be involved with his/her education. Click on Parental Involvement to learn more.
