Obsidian Middle School (OMS) will host its third annual “Pathway to Dreams” career week from April 10-14, 2017.
“The week is an opportunity for middle school students to hear from a variety of guest speakers and be exposed to many different career options,” OMS Principal Tami Nakamura said.
This year’s speaker lineup includes Redmond Mayor George Endicott, former NFL coach John Marshall, and local leaders in education, law, medicine, law enforcement and a variety of other careers.
The career week was started to give students the chance to make connections to what they’re learning in the classroom to a career in the real-world, Nakamura explained. Speakers are asked to connect their schooling to their current career.
OMS also hosts a small college fair during the week to allow students to become familiar with college options.
