I am a product of Redmond School District, having spent grades 1st through 12th here. I graduated as valedictorian in 1981. I attended COCC and completed an Associate’s Degree in Forestry, followed by five years with the USDA Forest Service. In 1988, I went back to school at Eastern Oregon State College, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. I returned in 1994 to get my Master’s and administrative license in 1995.
I have had the privilege of serving as principal at Lynch, Hartman, Gregory and Terrebonne prior to moving to the district office to serve as Director of Operations and Finance. I have served as your Superintendent for the past five years and hope to continue for a long time.
I met my wife Joanna in the big town of Wamic, Oregon while learning the wagon-making and wheel-wright trades. We were married in 1987 and have three wonderful children, Janelle, Jacob and James. All of them have graduated from Redmond High School. What a great legacy!
My passion besides kids and school is an undying love for draft horses and farming. We use our Belgian horses for much of the farming “horse power,” including everything from plowing to harvesting hay and grain crops. We have had the six-horse hitch at the county fair for the past 28 years.
I am the poster child for all things Redmond. I love this place and have certainly become vested in the community. I cannot separate who I am from the school district and from this great community in which we live.
