Along with winter comes the possibility that school may be closed or delayed due to weather conditions. A dilemma for the school district on inclement weather days is whether to operate school as usual, close down for the day or have a delayed opening (in the event of a delayed opening, morning kindergarten sessions are cancelled).

The District has developed a plan by evaluating road conditions, weather forecasts and other factors to determine the best decision.

If the decision is to have a full closure or a delayed opening, it will be made no later than 5:00 a.m.

Each Central Oregon radio station and TV station will be notified via e-mail by 5:30 a.m. and will continually broadcast the District’s status. Parents may also contact the District Office (923.5437), Transportation (923.4891) or visit the District website ( where school closures/delayed will be announced.

If you would like to be included on an e-mail list that informs you of closures/delays and other district-related news, please register for our e-Alerts.

Ultimately, the safety of the District’s students is the most important factor. If parents believe it is best for their children to remain home during an inclement weather day, the District encourages them to make that decision.
